Developing their people

World-leading specialist in the manufacture and supply of ceramic tableware stays at the top by continually developing their people.

Company Background

Celebrating 210 in 2010, Dudson Ltd continues to be a world-leading specialist in the manufacture and supply of ceramic tableware for the international hospitality industry and remains a privately owned family business, the oldest in the UK tableware industry.

Dudson Ltd manufactures exclusively in the United Kingdom where all production originates from two factory sites situated in the towns of Burslem and Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

Dudson Ltd completed a £7m expansion and modernisation project; part of a continuing programme to remain competitive.

The company wished to develop their managers and supervisors to deliver focused efficiency improvements with their teams on a day to day basis, and to drive a culture change throughout the business.

CIF Support

After initial discussions with the senior team at Dudson Ltd, CIF put together a bespoke training package that would deliver culture change and bottom line benefits to the business.  CIF offered the Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) NVQ to support the company to deliver their goals.

CIF delivered all the underpinning knowledge for the BIT NVQ and supported the teams through practical activities

The team delivered the productivity and efficiency opportunities identified by the company, an example being a 25% improvement in quality on a given product line.  With this work the teams managed to collect more than enough evidence for their BIT NVQ, each attaining the qualification within six months of starting the course.  In total Dudson Ltd have now supported c20 employees through the BIT NVQ, at Level 2 and 3.
